The Kanchipuram silk sari is a type of silk sari made in the Kanchipuram region in Tamil Nadu, India. These saris are worn as bridal & special occasion saris by most women in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh. It has been recognized as a Geographical indication by the Government of India in 2005–2006.

Origin:
Kanjeevaram sarees are made in the Kanchipuram region in Tamil Nadu. The fabric bears the images of all the scriptures embossed on the walls of the temples of the Kanchipuram village.
Ornamentation:
Zari work is known for the art of weaving threads in golden and silver colours. It involves the process of twisting a flattened metallic strip, which sometimes is made from pure gold and silver.
